Faulty switch

I bought this grinder because of the high amperage compared to others. Used it only a few times as a hobbyist and suddenly stopped working, seems to be a faulty switch. I went to Customer Service at Canadian Tire hoping they could look it up but unfortunately they can only go back 1 year. Even if I did save the receipt, they fade completely within 3 years. I will photocopy receipts in future.

Bought this grinder to do the odd small job. I may have used it a total of 30-35 min. until the trigger stopped working. I called Mastercraft online service and they said they don't stock the replacement part for this grinder. She said to return to Canadian Tire, and I told her I got it as a gift. Sorry can't help you was the final answer. I do not recommend buying this grinder. My friend has the same grinder and his trigger stopped working too.

The switch to this tool was redesigned more than 3-years ago due to several performance issues. Since that time there User performance ratings for this tool have been high. Please check your date code on the tool which is located on the rating label. It is relatively easy to read. If it is a current date tool it is recommended that you take it to a local store to have it exchanged - unfortunately, it is not guaranteed the store will complete the exchange without the receipt but a recent date code will assist in your discussion with Service Staff.
