The Mastercraft Voltage Detector/Tester has a non-contact AC voltage detector with a flashing LED and a buzzer to confirm the presence of an active current. The voltage tester can detect electric current between 70-1000V AC, as well as signals between 50-500Hz in frequency. This Mastercraft voltage tester is safety-rated to a CAT III standard, which allows it to perform continuous measuring in order to detect live wires and breakpoints in addition to detecting voltage.

I guess it works

It works, but not great, the switch is the back cover, it often doesnt trigger or just not turn on.
Worked for what i needed, but if i had to use it for longer i wouldve chucked it as far as i could see and go buy a better one, for the same price.

Q: Would this voltage tester work for checking to see if a hard wired smoke detector has been properly turned off prior to replacing?
