Built-in obsolescence?

The cases holding the brushes in place are made of hard plastic that cracks so the brushes no longer contact the commutator. That's at least one reason why the saw might suddenly die. Almost seems designed not to last.

Piece of junk. Same as previous posters. Used on one project at the end of last summer and brought it out this year....dead. Nothing. Do not waste your money.

Used twice. brushes are gone. The best thing is even though Canadian tire offers a 3 year exchange, The ink on the receipt disappears after about one. The only thin I can do now is go buy a hulla hoop and use the saw as a makeshift lawn dart. Absolute junk.

i have had 4 of these saws. each work the first time out of the box, perfect for the first project but if you wait 4 months for your next project, youll be disapointed as it will work for 5 minutes. seems the brushes for the motor get soft or damp and wear imediatly on second use.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Is this the same saw as Product #54-8347-0? If not, what's the difference between the two?

A: I do not see the circular saw that your question is referencing. We only make one 14A circular saw with laser. This product is the 054-8347-0.

Q: What are the differences when comparing Product #199-4701-6 (Mastercraft Circular Saw) and Product #54-8347-0 (Mastercraft Circular Saw) Not much product detail was provided for the "special buy" circular saw.

A: There is no difference between the saws themselves – the special buy (product # 199-4701) is composed of the 54-8347 circ saw in addition to two extra blades.
