Moves water

I bought this pump to drain a hot water tank at our cottage for winter. Went to do the job and thought I was well prepared. Hooked up and plugged in the pump. 15 seconds later the pump stopped and smelled like burned electrical. Dumb luck. I brought the pump back to the Canadian Tire store for a replacement only to find out they had no more in stock. So after getting a refund it was off to another store to pick up a replacement. Back to the cottage and tried again, success. Pump worked out well. The new one worked flawlessly. Took approximately 25-30 mins to drain a 60 gallon water heater, a bit longer than I thought, but it did the job. Other than a few snags, the return went well, no problems with that part. Same pump was purchased at another store, and it worked as expected. Not really the stores fault, and they handled everything to my satisfaction. Hopefully now the replacement pump will perform well for years to come.

Bought this to pump the water from my holding tanks through the water hose for garden and flower pot watering. One afternoon it just quit and there was a bunch of black water under it. When I removed the housing to inspect the motor, a retention washer let go causing one of the brushes to misalign and totally destroyed the magnet coil. Of course Canadian tire wanted the original box and instruction manual for a return. Bought in July 2025, stopped working October 2, 2025 with less than 20 hours total run time.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: The connection is 3/4 garden hose connection, the hose can be a different interior diameter. Some garden hose is 1/2 and 5/8 interior diameter, they all work. The smaller the hose the less efficient the pump.

Q: How many feet up can this pump push? I need about 30 feet up from lake to RV.

A: I haven't tested this to verify, but the user manual says that it has a "Maximum Discharge Head" of 120' (36.6m), plus a "Maximum Suction Lift" of another 15' (4.6m), so that seems like way more than enough for your 30' requirement.
