Q: Hi. I like to keep the patio door opened a few inches for air. Will this security bar work and help prevent opening from outside?

A: The bar adjusts from 27-1/2in to 44-1/2in so I would recommend checking the spacing depending on how far you like to leave the door cracked open. Please note that the door bar will prevent the door from opening, however if the door is cracked open it would be at the your review to determine if you will be able to access the bar or other objects from the outside to dislocate it.

Q: can this door lock bar be used so that my toddler cannot open the sliding door,to get out unless he figures how to lift this bar?

A: We would not recommend this item in a baby/toddler proofing application. It rests on the lower track of the door, and is not required to be physically anchored to the door frame, which in this case would allow a child to possibly remove it and gain access to the door.

Q: What's the risk of using this security bar in case of fire? My concern is in case of fire or medical emergencies, what are the risks of using this security bar? Would the firemen or paramedics have difficulty entering my apartment? Or they have equipments to break my door?

A: Whether an intruder or emergency personnel, the use of our door security bar will make it extremely difficult for someone to enter from the outside. For someone to enter through your door with the bar in use, the bar would need to be removed, or in the case of emergency personnel, the door would need to be broken using special equipment.

Q: Can this bar secure a sliding glass patio door on an outside track?

A: No. The bar needs to be able to rest between the sliding door and a fixed surface (door jam or other fixed panel). If the sliding panel is on the outerside, there is nothing to secure/jam the bar against on the moving door panel.
