Works best when used on a non reflective surface to help prevent the whole unit itself from overheating. As the heating element is fixed in place, use pots and pans that are wider than the element when cooking food that foams or might boil over to make clean up easier.

A: I purchased two for this specific purchase during a winter sale and when canning season came, I was disappointed to find out that my pots were bigger than the burners so I was unable to use them - so check your pot size to make sure they are small enough. Also, I wasn't sure if the wattage was powerful enough to bring things to a boil

A: Although I'm not familiar with the specs on the 4650 cc generator, the Master Chef Single Burner Hot Plate works best with same power rating from the average kitchen outlet. 120 volts at 15 amps for uninterrupted operation.

A: Hi Bill B, Master Chef Hot Plate model #043-1200-6 dial starts at 0 and cannot turn counter-clockwise. From '0' there are 3 dots that increase in size which is a 'keep warm' zone followed by 1~5. It's a clockwise motion with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest.

A: No, the Burner does not automatically shut off. You must turn it off. There is an indicator light which shows that it is on, but It shows green when it is heating and red when it is turned down or dialed off. We have made a habit of unplugging it, so that it will not inadvertently be left on.
