Grill like a pro with this Master Chef® S480 Natural Gas BBQ. It can cook, broil, sear and sizzle anything thanks to the 48,000 BTUs distributed through four stainless steel burners. You get a total of 680 sq. in. of cooking area – including a warming rack - to create masterful meals all summer long. This BBQ has the capacity to cook up to 28 burgers.

Great product & excellent service

We have one that is 6-7 years old and still absolutely love it! Great heat and always works. This spring we could see the heat shield on the bottom was finished (which is expected with it's age) so we contacted their 800 number. Their staff were excellent, gave us a price and shipped us one for $30.00...we are super impressed!! Great product & great service...I will be a repeat customer down the road for sure!

Q: Can you assemble the BBQ without the side trays? Small space, so I don't really need/want side trays.

A: Hello and thank you for your question. Yes you can assemble this barbecue without the side shelves. Assembling without side shelves will not affect the gas train. Make sure to leave at least 36" (91.44 cm) of clearance on both sides and rear of the barbecue - more information is available in the safe use and care manual that accompanies the product.

Q: How long is the natural gas hose connection that comes with the BBQ? (and is there a hose extension kit available?)

A: Hello and thank you for your question. The natural gas hose is 10' long. There is no extension kit available because the barbecue was CSA (safety tested) using a 10' hose, and changing the length of the hose would alter the gas train and void the certification.

Q: Do you need rocks or chips in the Master Chef s420? Just bought the Master Chef S420 a couple of weeks ago. It cooks great and we love it. Really dig the electric igniter. Should we have put lava rocks or some other kind of chip/rock in the bottom to help with the grease and all that? Thanks

A: Thank you for your question. Great to hear that you are happy with the product. No lava rock is necessary. The product includes; flame tamers which sit over top of your burners to protect them and also to distribute heat more evenly. The key with this BBQ is to remove the build up off of your heat plates on a regular basis. Because they catch all of your drippings, it is common if too much grease has built up to have flare ups on this part. use a plastic paint scrapper- this works best. Also, I would recommend never burning off grease off your cooking grates at the end of your cooking session. Always leave the grease on your grates to protect them until the next usage. Also, remember to preheat on high and adjust the temperature to medium, or min depending on what you are cooking.

Q: Where can I buy an extra set of cooking grates? I went CDN tire to buy some more and they do not sell any in this size or any masterchef ones at all. They used to when I purchased this model but not anymore, why don't you have spare grates for sale when you sell their BBQ's?

Q: does the front portion of the grill heat up or is it only the back? The rear of my MasterChef BBQ seems to heat up more at the rear of the grill then the front. Is this normal for these grills or is there something wrong/broken?

A: Thank you for your question. The model you are referring to is a 4 burner model. This unit when preheated for approximately 10-15 minutes on high, should offer fairly stable temperatures, and should get pretty hot. The key is to ensure that you preheat with the lid closed so that the temperature at the cooking grate surface has the chance to heat and stabilize. However, on most of these grills, the front 2-3 inches of the cooking surface, or the area closest to the user, will run slightly cooler for safety reasons.
