Q: Is it possible to not have it stay in the food throughout the cooking process? If so, how accurate/quickly will it read when I stick it in AFTER the meat has been cooked?

A: This is not a quick response thermometer. It must be inserted into the food before it enters the oven and remain in the food the full cooking time.
