Good flashlight

It's a little expensive based on the quality of flashlights offered by competitors, but it has still performed well. It is strong and stands up well to being dropped, numerous times.
The focus works pretty good but I have seen the light and dark ripples other users mention when focusing narrow to broad. Still a good flashlight.

I was fooled into thinking Mag-Lite was the best, but it is only average. Don’t buy this at the regular price. Mag-Lite is better than the cheap flashlights because Mag-Lite has a thicker aluminum casing, and a on/off button that can turn on/off quickly on by pressing and releasing the button half way (e.g., for morse code or signalling). The light is white with a hint of blue. However, I am disappointed because when the light zoomed/focussed out, it has many brighter and darker circles that ripple from the centre like from other cheap flashlights. Ripples make the target harder to see. When the light is zoomed/focussed in, the centre spot is not perfectly round. The spot is around 7 inches in diameter from 7 feet away. See my photos attached. Also, the lens is plastic, but I expected anti-reflective glass from Mag-Lite. I don’t recommend this Mag-Lite unless you get it on sale. I love flashlights and this was my seventh flashlight from name-brands. Considering the hype around Mag-Lite, I am very disappointed.

This flashlight is rugged and durable, offering a very powerful light. The light beam diameter is adjustable as with most Maglite flashlights. Very simple, but very effective.

best ever flashlight

I live in Whistler and walk to work at 4:30 am.This flashlight works great during those pitch black mornings. you can adjust the radius of brightness or if you want a beam to reach a longer distance.The durability is good, and batteries last a long time.

Q: Krypton Bulb So this flashlight comes with a spare krypton bulb in the tail cap? If so, I didn't get one but the LED is bright and worth it.

A: Mine didn't come with a spare bulb either. I imagine it'll outlast the flashlight case. I've had my maglite three years and put on at least 500+ hours. It's great for remote locations where I launch model rockets at night.

A: This flashlight is meant to use only replaceable alkaline D cells. Using rechargeable batteries is not recommended for two reasons. One is that any rechargeable battery (Ni-Cad or Ni-MH) that can fit into the light operates at 1.2V instead of the 1.5V from alkalines, resulting in a much dimmer light output. Secondly, the amp-hour capacity of any standard rechargeable is around one-half to one third of an alkaline D cell. So, if you're hiking in the woods you get less light, less time and re-charging may be somewhat difficult :-)
