    Bad experience

I purchased a GPS and used it first for a trip from Montreal to Portland, Maine. This is a bit of a tricky trip, as using the highway is certainly not the fastest way. However, when using "fastest" option, it kept telling me to go on the highway. This way is over 615km and more than 6 hours, and when I check on Google Maps or Mapquest, they both thell me a 420 km road not using the highway that would take around 5h30. Plus, the highways are toll road!!! And if I choose "avoid toll road" or "avoid highways", it can't seem to make the best mix to reach destination. And when I plugged the gps first using the USB wire, it wasn't working, I had to get another USB wire. And battery didn't seem to charge well. This being said, this was the first GPS I got in my life, maybe all other models would have suggested this road, I don't know. But for me, I don't trust this model to get me the fastest way from point A to point B.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Had a Magellan, very accurate, fast driving time. Replaced it with a Garmin. It always took extra time and mileage, never the shortest route nor fastest. Had it for a year. Replaced it with this Magellan 5465T-LMB, far better gps than Garmin. Will never buy a Garmin again.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought the magellan roadmate 5465t-lmb after having a Garmin gps for 6 months. The magellan is a far better gps than garmin. Planning routes were more accurate on the magellan that brings me to point B faste. Will stay with magellan

This is one of the most reliable gps in the market. One good thing about it is the free lifetime update, so it will serve you accurately for a number of years.

    Questions

    1 - 4 of 4 Questions

Q: Is this model exclusive to Canadian Tire? When I try to research Magellan RM5465T-LMB it can only be found on the CT website. Megellan does not list it as a product available today. Is it exclusive? Is it old and discontinued?

    • A: Actually, from my research this appears to be a new state of the art model just introduced in April 2014 It's on Magellan's website as a RoadMate 5465T-LMB

Q: Looking at giving the Magellan RM5465T-LMB as a Xmas gift. Wondering how good the phone bluetooth option worked and how difficult it was to setup? Also, another review mentioned that the speed scale is in MPH,,, Can the unit be selected to show KmPH??

    1 Answer
    • A: The GPS set up is exactly the same as setting up another Bluetooth device. The user must follow the prompts to search for a new device and then accept the connection, you can also set the GPS up to accept multiple connections, but it will only support one connection at a time. All in all, this very easy to do. The Unit can also be set to display MPH or KPH. This is done in the settings area of the GPS.
