Q: If used to glue a zipper to fabric, does the fabric remain flexible ?

2 Answers
  • A: I don't think this is what you would want to use. They do sell specific fabric glues, check Walmart for it.

Q: Is it flexible? I have a tear in my shock absorber boot and want to glue some rubber patch over it

2 Answers
  • A: Contact cement is flexible,  it in my experience it is not the best adhesive to use with rubber! It will adhere for a time but then peels off. I believe on a CV boot it would not last long. I think a better choice would be a glue meant for rubber repair - perhaps meant for tire repair or something similar. My advice would be to contact the glue manufacturer for their recommendation?

Q: Would this be effective to glue new rubber speaker surrounds

2 Answers
  • A: I believe this is a cement containing solvents or similar chemical. I would experiment on a test piece to be certain it would adhere to the rubber  and secondly, that it would not erode the rubber surface. I might also suggest contacting the manufacturer of either the rubber surround or  LePage. I used this product for an entirely different purpose.

Q: Does it glue metal to wood?

2 Answers
  • LePage Products - Henkel Corp

A: Yes, the LePage Pre-Tite Contact Cement can bond metal to wood. Not knowing the details of the project, the success will depend upon temperature, humidity, and porosity of the bonding surfaces. For starters, you would need to at least apply the cement to both surfaces.

Q: Once cured , is it able to withstand winter and summer temperatures ?

1 Answer
  • LePage Products - Henkel Corp

A: Thank you for the question. The service temperature rating for this product is -40°C (-40°F) to 70°C (158°F). Because you did not provide any background regarding your project it is difficult to provide a proper response. We will assume winter and summer temperatures means your project is exterior. Whether the product withstands these conditions will depend upon the nature or scope of the project in which it is used.

Q: Does this glue dry clear or is it coloured?

1 Answer
  • A: It will dry somewhat clear but will yellow over time. The degree of yellow depends on how much it is exposed to natural light. The more it is exposed the faster it will yellow.
