DeWALT Just Perfected the Hole Saw Arbor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] DeWALT innovates again with the easiest to use hole saw arbor on the planet. The DAH9912PBM (denotes ½” shank and accommodates 1 ¼” - 6” hole saws [13 mm shank, 32 - 152 mm hole saws]) is easy to use and stays plumb. The collar pulls down, toward the drill, to change out the hole saw. Instead of holding a spring-loaded collar, or spinning down a nut, this just pulls down to release the pins and the hole saw spins off. Pull the collar down a little further, to position two, and the pilot bit can be swapped out. No more allen wrench to retrieve. Just slide the collar down, pull the bit out, and put a new, sharp bit back in, or a longer pilot bit. The pilot bit stays true and plumb–the end is machined on three sides to what must be really tight tolerances. It works great, and you don’t need to pull off the hole saw to change the pilot bit. Just keep a new bit in its packaging to protect it while it bounces around in your toolbelt for when you’re working up high for quick changes to a perfect new pilot. DeWALT just perfected the hole saw arbor, and set it at a price point that makes it easy to try.

Yes, I recommend this product.

  • Shown with 2 extra bits--a replacement 3 1/4" and a 4 1/4"
  • Feels awesome in hand, shown in position 1, ready to put on a hole saw
  • Shown in position 2, ready to switch out pilot bits. Bit can be changed with hole saw in place
  • Slide collar back up to full locked position. This is the position that locks the pins into the base of the hole saw to keep it from tightening up
  • Works with any threaded hole saw--I had to see it for myself, and it works perfectly
  • Collar all the way up, pins locked in place, ready to drill

Easiest arbor to use by far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the rapid load arbor for a while now. I have to say the best part of it is how easy it is to change the drill bit. I have had other brands in the past that were hard to swap out the drill bits and even change the hole saw. On this it is simple. You slide the coller to either the 1 or 2 position depending on if you want to change the hole saw or drill bit. It's extremely easy. It has also held up to drilling numerous times through 1/4" steel. I am very happy with this and will definitely be looking for more Dewalt tools in the future.

Yes, I recommend this product.

  • 1 for hole saw / 2 for drill bit

This system works great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From what I've seen so far, this is essentially a more efficient hole saw mandrel with no compromise. The mandrel is durable and well made, the multiple collar position method is intuitive (position 1 releases the hole saw, position 2 releases the pilot bit), and the collar shape and knurling provide a positive grip for effortless manipulation of the collar. I'm used to the set screw style mandrels that require me to hunt down my key set, which is never in the same spot, in order to switch out a dull pilot bit. The ease and speed of swapping bits with this system made my day. It's just one of those small things that has a bigger impact than you realize, you normally just put up with it because it's part of the process. Now that I've got my hands on one of these, I hang my head and sigh in anguish at the thought of using our old set screw mandrels - I've been spoiled and I don't ever want to do that again. I initially had some concern about the ball detent holding the bit parallel to the hole saw, because if it didn't the saw would bind and potentially snap my wrist. I'm glad to confirm that there is no play whatsoever (front-to-back, side-to-side, nor rotational) with any of the three bits I have. The bits are well machined with tight and consistent tolerances, available in different lengths, and are designed for wood and metal work. One of my photos shows one of the boards I used for my test run - I swapped bits a few times and used different hole saw sizes. It didn't take long for me and my crew to build 100% confidence in this system. We're currently remodeling a 1970's mobile home, and used the hole saw for two primary tasks: cutting holes in the roof (which consists of sheet metal, a thin foam sheet, and a thick cardboard paper?) for some bath fan additions, and cutting holes in the new floor material (3/4" CDX plywood) for sewer plumbing protrusions - no issues to report. I will note that when inserting a pilot bit, I had to pull and hold the collar a little further back than the 2nd position indication (we'll call it position 2.5) in order to get the bit to overcome the ball detent and click into place - not a huge deal and bit swaps were a breeze once i figured out that bit of info.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great product and very durable. Long

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product to cut holes in cabinets and doors. The drill bits kept sharp and did not lose accuracy and kept drilling no problem. I drilled through about 20 cabinets and 10 doors. Would highly recommend this product. The chuck is very easy to use and separate from each other.

Yes, I recommend this product.

DeWalt Quck change Arbor gives Confidence

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got my DeWalt Rapid Load quick change Arbor and right out of the box Loved the weight and solid feel the tool has. This reminded me of how antiquated tools & machines feel, letting you know they are durable & built to last. The quick change of the drill bit is fast and simple and the threads secure my hole saw which gave me confidence that there would be no slipping or wobble. This quick change arbor works great for me

Yes, I recommend this product.
