    First meal was amazing.

The surface is rough, fairly common with today's cast iron done to get seasoning to stick during factory production processes. I was tempted to sand smooth the inside before even using it. I didn't have the proper gear to do a decent sanding, and well, it is a pot, not a frying pan; so I thought it probably wasn't to important to have a smooth surface. The lid's knob is ok, but I would have liked it better if it was part of the cast iron. I cleaned the pot, removed the knob from the lid, and gave it another seasoning on top of the factory pre-seasoning. Today I used it as a Dutch oven to cook some chicken. WOW! The chicken turned out amazing. Tender and juicy. I didn't have to soak with water in the pot to clean it. Just put in hot water and scrubbed with plastic scrubby and it came clean instantly. Had I had more money I would like to have bought the next size down as well; also on sale.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: What's the difference between this cast iron boiling pot and the cast iron casserole dish? they look the same on line.

    1 Answer
    • A: Hello Kitty, yes they are part of the same series and they are very much the same - except for the size. The casserole dishes are smaller at 3qt and 6qt volumes but the boiling pot is a larger capacity at 8 quarts. Thank you.
