Safety First: Ensure all cooktop controls are off and the surface is cool before you begin cleaning. Prevent Use: Turn on the Cooktop Lockout function (if your model has one) to prevent the burners from being turned on accidentally. What NOT to Use (Avoid Damage): Never use steel wool, abrasive powder cleansers, chlorine bleach, rust remover, or ammonia, as these will scratch or damage the glass cooktop. -----How to Clean (3 Steps) 1. Scrape Off Residue Use a specialized scraper designed for ceramic glass cooktops to remove any stuck-on food or residue. Tips: For the best results, use the scraper while the cooktop is still warm (but not hot to the touch—wear an oven mitt). Hold the scraper at a 45° angle against the glass and apply firm pressure. 2. Apply Cleaner Apply a few dime-sized drops of a ceramic glass cooktop cleaner (like affresh® cleaner) to the stained areas. Tips: Rub the cleaner onto the cooktop using a soft scrubbing pad. You may need reasonable pressure for stubborn stains. Allow the cleaner to dry completely until it forms a white haze. 3. Polish Use a clean, dry cloth or a dry paper towel to polish the surface. Tips: Repeat Steps 1–3 as necessary for any stains that are burned-on or particularly difficult to remove. The Self-Cleaning cycle uses extreme heat (pyrolysis) to turn food residue into easily-wiped-away ash. Tips for Optimal and Safe Cleaning: Clean Moderately Soiled Ovens: Clean before heavy buildup to minimize smoke and odor. Ensure Ventilation: Maintain proper kitchen air circulation (e.g., open a window or use a high-powered, vented range hood). Never Block Vents: Keep oven vents unobstructed for safe heat and fume escape. Protect the Door Gasket: Do not clean or damage the flexible seal; a compromised gasket prevents proper heat and sealing. Detailed Preparation Steps:Phase 1: Preparing the Oven Remove All Accessories: Take out racks, broiler pans, grids, and all cookware—extreme heat will damage them. Remove Foil: Aluminum foil can melt and permanently damage the oven's porcelain finish.
