Best cast iron dutch oven I have owned. I love the size, shape and color. Great pot.
The one comment I have is how the color changed after using it. It is no longer a bright red like pictured, but a deeper color, almost like a maroon or wine color. I am not sure why it would have done this, but it does not affect the quality of the food cooked in it. It just does not match my kitchen like it did before. Very strange.

This KitchenAid cast-iron 6-qt casserole dish is great and a really good staple piece of cooking equipment to have in your kitchen. It's great for things like stews and pot roasts. What I like best about it, is that you can actually cook your vegetables, meats and other ingredients in the pot over a burner on your stove top and then put the whole thing straight into the oven when you need (i.e. when making stew). So you don't end up having to make 60 million dishes, and you keep all the good flavours of your food all in one dish!

A: Yes. Better to put it on low heat on the stove top to warm it up before putting it in the oven. I usually put it on the stove top on low heat to start then put it in the oven at about 325 F to finish cooking, regardless of what meal I am cooking
