Q: i have little 14 spruce trees 1 -2 feet tall, planted 10feet apart. how close should the Jobes large spikes be placed? the bottom branches have not spread too far out from the trees yet.

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. The spikes should be inserted around the dripline of the trees, maybe out just a little further if you feel the branches will spread out soon. Also, please see the back of the package for directions on number of spikes to use per tree. It is based on the tree trunk diameter. Good luck!

Q: Hi, I am getting conflicting reports if this product is good to use on 3 year old boxwoods. Some reports say: this product has to high of an acid content and some say this product good to use. From what I have researched boxwoods like a 10-6-4 mix. Safe?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. The best fertilizer for boxwood trees is a slow-release higher nitrogen fertilizer and a soil pH greater than 6. The Jobe’s Tree & Shrub Fertilizer Spikes 15-3-3 meets these requirements. The product is not excessively acid causing, so will not lower the pH below the ideal range, (assuming the soil pH was fine to begin with).
