Q: Hi is good for full range speakers Regards

  • A: Hi! Yes you could use the GXA3001 amp for your full range speakers. However, it will depend on the full range speakers that you will be using. For example, if you have a pair of 6" or smaller full-range speakers, you must set the Crossover Filter switch in the “HP” (high-pass) position. This will limit the amount of low-frequency energy sent to the speakers, significantly reducing distortion and preventing the speakers from damage. On the other hand, for larger full-range speakers (6" x 9" or larger) that can handle significant bass and you are not using a subwoofer in the system, set the Crossover Filter switch to the "FLAT' (full-range) position.

Q: Hi, this amp is recommended for sub 250 rms 4 ohms and how is the connection???

  • A: To do the setup for the GX-A3001 Input, use a "Y"-adapter to connect your source unit or processor's subwoofer line output to the amplifier's left and right inputs. If your source unit does not have a dedicated subwoofer output you can connect the rear left/right outputs to the amplifier's left and right inputs.

Q: Hi, I have a GX-A3001 running a Rockford fosgate punch P1 12" and thinking of upgrading to the  Punch 12" P2 4-Ohm DVC Subwoofer The Rockford Fosgate P2 12” subwoofer The P2D4-12 features a Dual 4-Ohm voice coil so not sure if it will work?

  • A: Hi. The 3001 is specified to deliver 415 Watts into 2 Ohms, under specified circumstances. This means that you can connect the two 4 Ohm voice coils in your subwoofer drive unit in parallel, to give you a total impedance of 2 Ohms. Of course, no load is ever totally linear and ideal, so your sub may dip under 2 Ohms, and rise above 2 Ohms. Since 2 Ohms is the minimum that the 3001 can handle, it is on the edge of its capacity, so if your sub dips under 2 Ohms, or if you have low DC input voltage, or play at maximum levels over long periods of time, or have insufficient cooling, you may still experience problems, like protection circuits cutting in or thermo protection shutting audio off.

Q: I just hooked up the GX-A3001 to my JBL 10" 1000D 260Watt and smell a burning plastic smell. I only have the amp turned up half way. Should I turn off the bass boost? It is also running hot, I double checked my connections, they are good thoughts?

Q: If I have only one 2 ohms load do I have to use only one pair of terminals (+)(-) -->(+)(-)<-- or do I have to connect it like if it is in bridged I mean like this -->(+) (-)(+) (-)<--

  • A: The GX-A3001 has two parallel sets of speaker connectors, allowing you to connect two subwoofers. If you are using a single subwoofer you can connect it to either set of GX-A3001 speaker connectors. If you are using two 2-ohm subwoofers you can connect them to one of the sets of connectors in series to be above the required 2-ohm minimum impedance.
