Product Details

J-B Weld™ is The Original Cold Weld two-part epoxy system that provides strong, lasting repairs to metal and multiple surfaces. Mixed at a ratio of 1:1, it forms a permanent bond and can be shaped, tapped, filed, sanded and drilled after curing. At room temperature, J-B Weld™ sets in 4-6 hours to a dark grey colour. JB Weld

I’ve used JB Weld for years. Needed to fix a piece of gold jewelry and as usual it worked great. This type is a two part “paste”. Doesn’t run or drip so perfect for my needs.

Excellent adhesive as long as you have enough surface area to work with

Can never go wrong with JB weld if applied properly. It's even better if applied alongside a plastic welder and staples. It takes time to cure, but it's incredibly strong once it's fully cured. They're not too effective for patching holes on pressure washer wands, but they're excellent adhesive for any plastic material. Just make sure to follow the instructions, thoroughly clean the material, roughen the mating surfaces, and evenly mix the solution before application.

Questions

Q: Is this moldable for using in crafts ? what is the working time ?

3 Answers
  • A: The advantage about this epoxy- like material is its hardness after curing. If that's the end result you're after, great! So if you have a mold to fill, you might not get it out. Best is for repairs. You can build up layers, and sand to shape/size.

Q: Is this glue any good to fix fridge shelves that is supposed to hold up the vegetable trays, need to be able to hold heavy objects.

  • A: If the surface is cleaned and sandes to give a rough surface to bond to the epoxy should hold up well. Easy to work with just follow instructions.

  • A: Probably yes but carbon fiber not listed on label. It worked for me to fix a cast iron dutch oven

Q: Will this glue together a broken metal pipe? Trying to fix a trampoline. One of the metal tubes that holds the netting up is broken in two.

  • A: I have not tried to do such a repair, but i doubt it would flex enough and would probably not adhere under the tension.

Q: What is the surface coverage for this 2 x 1 oz package ? I'm looking to mount a 2' x 3' stainless steel plate onto a plywood backing - will this package give me enough to put a bead across the surface in an "x" pattern (i.e. 7 ft long) ?

2 Answers
  • A: Not sure of the coverage you’re asking but they do have different size tubes. I would question whether this is the right product for your needs. JB weld is a weld and not a glue.  I would suggest PL adhesive to bond your 2 materials.

Q: Do the tubes have a resealable cap? How long is the shelf life after opening?

2 Answers
  • A: Yes, screw on caps, it only hardens when mixed so alone it will not harden. I’ve used it many times after originally opening, just reseal airtight

Q: can this product be used in food/human use contact applications i.e. potable water piping?

2 Answers
  • A: As it is a mechanical bond and is made from natural resins it should be safe for pipe fittings etc. Although I would refrain from any direct or indirect  human contact before it completely dries!

Q: When fully cured can this withstand the torque a diesel truck starter produces when its used to holt the starting mounting bolts in place on a cast iron block?

1 Answer
  • A: Really can't answer for sure. Factors like the area covered, prep, angle of thrust of the starter motor as the drive engages all factor into this. The Original 8265 is the strongest item we have.
