Product Details

The J-B Weld Exhaust Weld Total Exhaust Repair Wrap offers a high-strength system for repairing the entire exhaust system. This 2-inch by 72-inch wrap is impregnated with a special resin formulated to withstand exhaust temperatures up to 1100°F (593°C). It cures with or without heat to seal and insulate exhaust parts. The convenient kit includes the fiberglass wrap, gloves for application, and aluminum tape to secure it. This exhaust tape is the total solution for sealing cracks and holes in exhaust pipes, mufflers, catalytic converters, and more. Its heat-resistant resin provides a durable and long-lasting fix.

Hard to wind it tightly as instructed

I tried to wrap a catalytic converter with it. The wrap is so wet that any tension from tightly winding immediately relaxes when I let go. I ended up making a steel band to slip over the wrap, rendering this product a really expensive gasket. I don't think I'll buy this again.

Expensive and roll is way too short

They suggest you wrap the leak with at least 5 layers and to continue the wrap for 2 inches in either way. Have they seen the size of tail pipes? Maybe if they gave twice as much wrap. As it stands for $27 + per roll you would need two rolls.

Make sure to provide structual support

The weld behind the flex pipe corroded, I wrapped this tape around the crack, but I also cut in half an 21/2 inch by 2 1/8 inch adapter pipe and clamped it on top of the tap. This gives it the structural integrity, This is the way it should be used, not just by itself,
