High hopes for this thing but it rarely does all the rooms- always stops- clogs with dog fur etc

Stops for no reason. Get's lost. Chimes at odd times for who know what reason. Very irritating and if I could figure out how to get a refund I would. Robot customer service if you read this please contact me so I can get a refund

Makes our life easier and our home cleaner

We have 4 dogs so we have a ton of pet hair. This vacuum has made a huge difference in the amount of hair around the house, and helps out a ton with the little leaves, pollen, berries etc. that are constantly falling off our Dutch Elms. Do some of the parts wear out? Yes, it's working hard and it's a plastic machine but CS has been helpful resolving certain issues and sending out replacement parts when needed. I see a lot of complaints about ERROR 26 and we had the same issue, but new parts were sent out and it works fine again now. I expect it will need something else replaced at some point too, that's how these things work. It's not perfect - it will miss spots and get stuck occasionally but it's also taking care of a huge responsibility that we no longer have to worry about daily.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Constantly Manually Emptying the Bin

So done with this product. "Empty the bin. Empty the bin." I changed brushes and filters. Constantly cleaning the sensors. Reboot. "Empty the bin." Do it all again. Reboot. Bought a new bin, thinking that might fix it. Nope. "Empty the bin." I can't remember the last time this unit completed a cleaning program. I left a review and received an email from iRobot, but the ticket was closed before I could respond. I must have been too busy emptying the bin. I asked to reopen the ticket. No response. To add insult to injury, I bought my daughter and son-in-law an 17+ for their wedding, right after I bought mine. Now theirs is acting up. Absolutely shop around before you buy a Roomba.

Aweful unit for carpet!!! 2 units failed in 2 weeks!!!

We purchased for our upstairs with has builder grade carpet. First unit developed an aweful squealing sound after 2 weeks and 4 runs. Support diagnosed as motor failing. Sent full brand new unit. 2 weeks and 4 runs later, replacement units makes same noise. Squeals so loud you can hear in entire home. Noise stops when on hardwood. One support agent said unit is not designed for carpet. Another said it is designed for carpet. Dont know who to believe. After second failure, they sent a "service unit", which is just the robot with no battery. Swapped battery into service unit. Guess what, 2 weeks and 4 runs, develops aweful squealing sound when on carpet. Support now says it is an "environment" issue and they refuse to support the device any longer even though it has a 1 year warranty. This is not right!!! Asked if they would provide and upgrade path to a newer model that works better on carpet. Was happy to pay any price difference. They flatly refused to offer any paths for getting a model that will perform on carpet. If you have hardwood, this is a good unit. But if you have any kind of carpet, please stay away from this model. I feel ripped off of $800 with support basically saying we did all we want to do and it is now your problem.

  • A: Hello Ceel - The Roomba i7+ can work without Wi-Fi, but would not have access to all features. Some features such as scheduling and Imprint Smart Mapping would not be available as they are completed through the iRobot Home app.

  • A: Both Roomba i7+ and s9+ both have our most advanced navigation technology that learns the layout of the home and builds personal Smart Maps, enabling them to expertly clean and navigate in neat, efficient rows and even to go clean specific rooms, areas, or objects. They also have the Clean Base® Automatic Dirt Disposal that allows the robots to empty themselves for up to 60 days. The s9+ has stronger suction (40x the 600 series) and up to 120 minutes of run time, while the i7+ has 10x the suction of 600 series and up to 90 minutes of run time. Both models in the middle of a cleaning mission have the ability to recharge and resume right where it left off.

Q: Will the machine operate without wifi? What functions will not work without wifi?

  • A: Hello Andy - Yes the i7+ will work without wifi. You will just start it using the button on top of the unit, rather than in the app on your smartphone. Features like SMart Mappting and working with Google Assistant or Alexa voice assistant will not work without the APP and wifi.

Q: Can you move it to other levels of your house on different days? As in, how long does it take to understand the barriers and rooms, can it store the information about multiples levels or would you have to reprogram it every time, etc? Is this feasible?

  • A: Hello Ron. You can map and store up to 10 areas/floors with the i7. It will take the length of time to compete the cycle to program each area/floor. The only requirement is that you move the Roomba and the Clean base to the floor that it is cleaning.. It is important that you place the Roomba and clean base in the same spot as when it mapped the area so that it can clean to the map it has prepared.

Q: does it do shag style rugs and also under beds

  • A: Hi Judy...all iRobot Roombas will go under beds and sofas, as long as it can fit. For the Roomba i7+, it will handle most shag style rugs, but if it is extra thick or long, it may have difficulties going on it and will just go around it. Feel free to try it out for 30 days to see how it performs in your home. We are pretty sure you will love it, as the Roomba i7+ not only vacuums for you, it also empties it's own bin!
