Product Details

A pair of 12 foot, 6" long aircraft cables that are used for the up and down operation of sectional garage doors. The galvanized cables have one ended looped with the other end fusion cut. The necessqary brackets and S hooks are included and installation instructions are included. Always unplug an electric door opener, if installed. Wear safety glasses and secure the door to reduce the risk of injury.

Q: Once end is closed loop. How is it at the other end ? Do I need anything extra to hook to the pulley ?

A: The extension cables SK7112 come with two three hole plates, you can thread the free end of the cable to the plate and secure the plate with the s-hook. Watch a video on youtube "ideal security garage door hardware" for detail steps.

Q: Can i use this 12'6" cables to replace my 8'6" cable for my 7' garage door?

A: The SK7112 garage door extension cables are designed to replace most residential sectional garage door extension cables. If the cables you mentioned are the extension cables, then yes. Please note that the safety cables SK7136 are different than the extension cables SK7112.

Q: How do you install? My current garage door cables have a closed loop on one end, but a "T" at the other end to hook into the reel (no assembly required). Can I buy them like that or is it something I have to do?

A: you can buy them like that but it wont do you any good as you need a set of winding pins to re-hook them properly. DO NOT mess with the huge spring up top it can and will take fingers off.
