humidity sensor issues

humidity sensor has issues from time to time. it shows the humidity level in the room as extremely high so it doesn't bother to turn on. Contacted HoneyWell support and received the response that they would replace it. However, the customer has to pay for shipping the original one back? Kind of weird since they acknowledged the product is defective. Due to this policy, I probably won't buy HoneyWell again.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Works great but you have to clean it weekly. Follow the manual. Small amount of white dust from the hard water. Use distilled water if you can.

Not increasing %

When first used our house humidity was just over 20%. After 2 days of use it has only gone to 28%. This is situated in our living room that is aboudt 24x12 that is open to the rest of the house. It is set to 40%.

A: Distilled water would be optimal to minimize white dust. Distilled water would leave no mineral residue and will be totally safe.

Q: How do you clean and disinfect this? Is it vinegar for cleaning and diluted bleach for disinfecting? Do I need to remove the water tank to clean?

A: I don't know. I've never bought this item. My email is tied to my ex girlfriends account and I've been trying to disconnect it for 8 years. Please Canadian Tire, stop the madness.

Q: Is white dust associated with this humidifier? With every other one we have purchased, there has been extensive amount of white dust and we had to stop using it.

A: Yes, there is a small amount of white dust with this humidifier. Most disappointing. I bought it new this season, and have never experienced white dust with a Honeywell humidifier in the past. I’m not happy with this.
