Favourite Planter for Basil

Another reviewer said there was no drainage on his pot. On the one I bought, the drainage hole was on the side of the pot, right where the pot and attached saucer meet. This design means the pots drain just fine, and you don't have to use one of your own plates or bowls, or buy a separate saucer, to collect excess water.

Terrible Planter - NO Drainage!

These clay planters looked like a nice alternative to the standard clay planters with the reddish orange color that are so common. Unfortunately, these things are junk. First, there is no drainage like you would expect from a pot and saucer setup. The bottom of the pot does have a hole in the center for drainage, however the bottom edge of the pot is firmly glued all the way around to the saucer, meaning that water can not drain off and gets trapped between the pot and saucer. Second, once they get wet, these things STINK. It's a difficult to describe odor, but it's unpleasant, strong, and filled the entire apartment. It is likely the type of clay that was used. This could have been a nice little planter, however without the drain holes it's useless unless you like to give your plants root rot. Avoid this piece of junk.
