Confusion in labelling of this product.

I had to drill new holes to accomodate this handle. The spacing of the original holes was 3¾, but when I got the handle home and measured it, that was the overall length. The mounting holes were closer together that expected. I used the handle as a replacemtn on top of my 20 inch box fan. The plastic handle that was originally on it had broken off.
