Disappointed with Havahart Raccoon Trap

Really disappointed with this product. The very first time I set it out, I caught a raccoon, but the raccoon actually broke the trap where the metal pieces are soldered together and escaped while the door was down and secured. I would not recommend this product.

We are sorry to hear this happened! It is always important to check your trap frequently as no animal should remain in a cage for an extended period of time. Raccoons are quite intelligent and have dexterous front paws. They quickly become scared and anxious when trapped and will go to great lengths to escape. We recommend monitoring your trap frequently to ensure a safe and successful trap and release. The trap is covered under a 1-year replacement policy. Horrible

Bought this and it literally broke the second I removed the zap straps. Unfortunately I’ve been out of town and wasn’t able to return it. A huge waste and it can’t be of any quality if it breaks prior to use.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Destroyed by a raccoon on the first use

As other reviewers have noted, the bottom welds are weak and easily broken by a trapped raccoon. I purchased this cage on a Tuesday and by Friday the bottom had been busted out by the first raccoon to get caught. I captured it all on night vision camera.
It took less than 1.5 hours for an unusually calm raccoon to methodically break about 12 welds on the bottom before squeezing out.
CTC wouldn't initially refund my money and offered a replacement. I refused it. I don't think the trap is well engineered and I don't have time to seek a replacement every time this gets beaten up. I settled on in store credit.
I purchased a different brand. Havahart used to be a premium product. I think the bean counters have attempted to cut costs just a little too far.
I reached out to the parent company of Havahart and was fed the same old line that the solution is to check the trap frequently. Raccoons are nocturnal, and my trap was destroyed at 1 AM.
I still own a much older Havahart that has survived dozens of raccoons. I'd gladly pay double for a product as well built as the old one.
