I bought these jars to can jam. They are a good size, and appear to be good quality. They were complete with lids and rings attached. There was no unusual or oily smell. Seals were in good condition with protective coating on the inside, and a consistently applied seal compound that worked well for all of the jars. The jars stood up well to being immersed in boiling water for sterilization. No defects in the jars were noted. Note: Rings and lids are packed assembled on the jars with rings loosely secured so as not to deform the sealing compound. I did note impact damage to a ring on one of the boxes. This may have an effect on the ability to seal the jar, or screw the lid on properly. There may be damage to the jar itself, so check for damage before purchasing the jars.

A: If filling your jars with hot liquid such as soup or stew, first allow the liquid to cool slightly. ... Remember, frozen liquids expand, so don't overfill, or you will end up with a cracked jar. Refrigerate the filled jars and allow to cool completely before placing in the freezer to avoid cracking.

A: There are 12 in a package. There are no labels in this package, though there are in the 12 pack Bernardin. Its still usually cheaper to buy these and buy the labels separately (or just use permanent marker on the lids since they are single use)
