This versatile Gerber tool offers three functions in one, featuring a 9-in blade to help you chop, cut and split wood with less effort. The full tang, weight-forward blade features a recurved shape that stays sharp even close to the base, allowing it to perform like a traditional knife. The stylish yet comfortable handle reduces fatigue, while the forward grooves on top of the blade provide a secure grip when splitting wood. i like this Gerber!

the "features" description is spot on. the Versafix sits between a large knife and a small hatchet. the weight at the front of the blade does the chopping, while the edge near the handle can do finer work. for example, in making a walking staff before a hike, i would cut and clear the branches off using the front of the blade, and then i would clean the remaining "knots" using the rear of the blade. the handle is comfortable and secure in my hand. the sheath is the weakest piece. i would prefer a scabbard to simply drop the blade in. overall, i'm happy with it.
