Bought this model to replace a 10 year old "time expired" model by Kidde. This Garrison unit is exactly the same with a brighter LED light ! So we are "smoke safe" for another ten years !

A: The light is quite bright, though unlike an incandescent bulb, the emitted light is cone-shaped with the apex at the smoke alarm. If the alarm is installed over a bed, the light would likely be sufficiently bright to wake a sleeping person.

A: Get on a step ladder. Twist the detector and it will come off. You will see the batteries. Replace them. ALWAYS keep your manual.

Q: I went to Canadian Tire today to replace the two original batteries. one is a no name the other Eveready 9 V. With Canadian Tire help we tried 2 new Duracell 9V batteries. The smoke alarm did not work. Is there specific batteries to be used ? please help

A: Please call tech support at 1-800-880-6788 and they will help you. Have the alarm with you with either Duracell or Energizer batteries.

Q: My detector went off this morning. It beeped (not chirped) three times, then there was an interval and it did again two more times. Why? This was installed this summer (2020), purchased at Canadian Tire. No smoke, no heat.

A: Please call the tech support line at 1-800-880-6788. They will help you identify if it is reacting to environmental conditions like insects or humidity (extremely likely at this time of year) or if it needs replacing under warranty.

Q: Les deux piles sont différentes. La Carbone-Zinc pour l'avertisseur et l'alcaline pour le DEL. Mais il n'y a pas d’indication pour leurs positions respectives dans le compartiment à piles. Comment les distinguer?

A: En regardant sous la porte pour les piles, il est écrit quelle pile est pour quoi - Celle de gauche pour la lumière et celle de droite l'alkaline pour l'avertisseur. Il est important à notez que deux piles alakalines peuvent être utilisé aussi si c'est nécessaire.

Q: Battery door will not close. Batteries are installed correctly as the alarm sounds when the test button is pressed. The batteries seem to be too thick for the red tabs on the side to go down all the way. Videos online no help.

A: The red tab gets pushed down first with the battery holding it in place. The door will only close once it is inside first, before the battery. This is a deliberate device to prevent putting the alarm up without a battery.
