This is a simple, barebones stud finder that is lightweight and accurate. Even if you have a more expensive stud finder with all the bells and whistles, it’s still worth buying one of these as a reliable backup.

A: Yes, the stud finder will work equally as well on a ceiling, if the ceiling is textured I would recommend using a piece of cardboard between the ceiling and stud finder.
