Q: Can you replace the battery?

A: Lynn, please don't dispose of these but donate them to a thrift store. They should be lasting longer than 2 hours if they are exposed to direct sunlight during the day. It's true that higher capacity batteries are not readily available and will be too expensive. Also, I just want to add that I don't use the clips, but take those off, and hang them on my bush with the metal hangers.

A: There is a solar battery in the sensor top compartment. You can change the battery to a higher capacity one, but since it's a smaller battery, it's not as easy to find one that will create a brighter light. I'd recommend just leaving these and not try switching, as they are bright enough as they come.

Q: Why do some shine a warm white and some shine a pure white? They all came from the same bin...so not sure why they are different colours when they turn on at night.

A: P.S. I don't think there are clear ones, just crackle, but there are coloured ones available in some places.

Q: How much sunlight is required to charge batteries? Seems like with even a little bit of shade they don't charge (although product says they charge in cloudy conditions).

A: I have about 24 of these on my cedar bush. It's been a nice option for me as the squirrels chew any light strings I put out. These are very hardy and work all year, even in wintery conditions. I had to adjust the location of where I hung them, so that they received direct sunlight during the day. They work best this way or otherwise they will shut off earlier. I had trouble at the beginning as I found some didn't light up for long. I realized that if I changed the location so that it received direct light, they all worked after that.

A: You have to unscrew the light bulb and turn the switch on that is inside the base.

A: Okay, I bought a few more today and opened one to see the type of battery. It's a N-Cd 2/3AAA 200mAh 1.2V, 200 is bright enough in my opinion for a solar light of that small size. Canadian Tire sells 2/3AA that are 150mAh which I'm pretty sure are bigger. They don't sell the replacement batteries for this product. On another note, there seem to be coloured ones as well, but they are sold out here.

Q: Does the little clip thing come with it so you can hang it on a rope or is there just a ring at the top?

A: Yes...they can pop off in a strong wind but the clips do hold pretty good.

Q: how long for it to fully charge? Mine have been outside now for 5 hours and it flickers but when you turn it in a different direction to hang it, it just goes off.
