This product has been a dud since we purchased and installed it. The remote worked approximately twice and then we couldn't change the settings so the fan goes at high speed 24/7. I called For Living customer service and they shipped a new remote and transmitter piece. Those were replaced, and now the fan won't even turn on. I wouldn't recommend this product.

Works great in my heated garage. Not overly difficult to install, however the instructions could use improving! I mounted it directly to the ceiling (into a truss) and installed a strain relief for the cord to go through the housing and plugged it into the door opener plug.

Q: Hooked everything up and remote won't turn on the fan. Double checked for power, doubled checked all wiring. Red light on remote comes on when a fan speed is pushed, but doesn't start the fan.

Q: Can I not use the downrod for closer install from the ceiling

A: The length of downrod is fixed so that the height from the ceiling to fan is fixed. If the fan is closed to the ceiling, the RPM is low and the fan can not cool the room. We strongly suggest to use the downrod.
