The Hopkins Towing Solution FloTool Multi-Purpose Pump/Siphon is a versatile tool for oil changes, car maintenance and other fluid transfers. To use, simply connect the hoses to the intake and discharge nozzles, place the intake hose in the liquid and the discharge hose in the receiving container. Q: Is this okay to transfer gasoline?

Q: Does the intake have to be above the outflow tube?
a year agoA: No. This works in all positions. It does not siphon well, and hard pumping pressure may blow the tubes off. I used it to transfer fluid into my floor heating system and the tubes would blow off at about 15 psi. Works great as a transfer pump though.

4 years agoA: 48 inch long hose 3/8 inch inside diameter You could replace with longer hose as long as inside diameter is 3/8 of an inch

Q: How do you dry the pump so that it doesn't rust? I need to use it to pump water.
4 years agoA: Rust doesn't seem to be an issue. Pull the plunger to its full extension and let it drip/air dry. Keep in mind it takes about 5 minutes to pump 5 gallons of water. Have been using weekly since January to pump 10 gallons. It works fine but but is not effortless.

Q: Can it be used to fill the lower unit gear case of an outboard motor?
2 years agoA: The truth is I had to take the pump back as it was unable to pull oil from my boat motor. Unless I had a defective one it won’t work on oil.

2 years agoA: Two hoses with a length of 51" each. I have pumped from 45 gallon drum easily.

Q: 1. What size (diameter are the hoses)? 2. Can the hoses be removed and replaced (with longer lengths)?
3 years agoA: The hoses have a 1/2-inch outer diameter (end-to-end) and a 3/8-inch inner diameter (end-to-end). Although the hoses can be removed from the pump, replacing has not been tested for since this was not part of the original intention of product use. For this reason, replacing hoses is not recommended but, can be done at the users discretion.

Q: What are the hoses made of, they look plastic, will they collapse
4 years agoA: The hoses are plastic and somewhat pliable which I find good as it allows them to bend. I use the pump to bail out my boat and pump out the remaking water in my water tank when I close up the cottage and have never had an issue with the intake pipe collapsing. I guess the suction power of the pump is strong enough to lift the water but not enough to collapse the pipe.

4 years agoA: The Deluxe Pump has (2) red transfer hoses that are each 51 inches in length. Yes, the hose will be able to fit onto a fuel line nipple that is 3/8 inch.
