Works great. Very easy to push. Cuts grass very well. Works best if you are only cutting a few centimeters off the top, but it is easily adjustable for taller grass.

This is my 5th summer using the StaySharp, and I've never had to sharpen it! I'm an older female with health problems, so if I can do it, then most others can too. It gives you a sense of accomplishment when you're finished and you've gotten exercise as well. The handle tilts up for storage, and it's lightweight and fairly easy to lift. I love how quickly you can change cutting heights on the fly! My lawn is very weedy, so I do a back-and-forth pass on the same strip to catch anything it missed. Before mowing, I walk around the yard collecting branches and thick debris to prevent jams. It hasn’t required any maintenance, but I do brush it down and spray the blades and moving parts with rust inhibitor after each use. I’ve surely gotten my money’s worth from this mighty little machine!

Wicked cut after proper blade set up

Cut my average sized lawn 5 times so far. Did a ton of research on the best budget friendly reel mower and everything pointed at the fiskars stay sharp mower. I have always felt fiskars make quality products such as their scissors and axes ect. I also earned $64 dollars of Canadian tire money on this purchase. Back to the mower….. my lawn has been fertilized to the max, so cuts every other day is about perfect for this mower, I had to adjust the blade out of the box as the blades wouldn’t even cut a piece of paper. Once set I went on a lower setting and the mower gave me a wash board pattern on the whole lawn. Did some research and raised the height and it cuts like a dream. Can’t speak to the longevity of this yet, but happy so far. Don’t buy it if you want a super low cut, not enough blades to avoid the wash board effect. So far I’m impressed!

A: Our yard is uneven, quite narrow but rather long and the mower, that is quite heavy, works very well. I am very pleased with the mower. It takes a little getting used to. I would purchase it again without hesitation and do recommend it. Regards.

A: No, this mower does not cut when pulled backward. Reel mowers, including the StaySharp™ Max, rely on forward motion to engage the cutting mechanism. The blades are powered by the wheels, and the reel needs to be moving forward to pull the grass against the cutting blades.

Q: How safe is this mower? I am concerned about the exposed blades.

A: Unpacking the mower can be dangerous if you grab the front rail to pull it out of the box. The wheels are not locked at shipping, so it would be very easy to lose a finger. Operation of the mower is not dangerous since you are not near the blades while using it. I have mine set to throw the cut grass forward.

Q: Why is the fiskars grass catcher for this model not sold at Canadian Tire? Has anyone found the grass catcher available in Canada? US websites sell this product.

A: I have not seen a grass catcher for this model, no need for one. The mower shoots the grass forward, and you get to run the clippings repeatedly over, till they're about 0.5 cm in length. There isn't much to collect in the end.
