Best fire starter and eco friendly

Naturally occurring wood saturated with sap or pitch and is simply the best fire starter I have ever used. If you have seasoned firewood, one or two pieces is more than enough to get a roaring fire going. I love this stuff.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Good stuff!

I was skeptical, but you really CAN light this fatwood with just a match. Four pieces of fatwood and some larger kindling gave me a roaring fire in under five minutes. Completely eliminated the need to go hunting around the house for some spare newspaper. I'm impressed!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Fatwood Fire Starter

I heat exclusively with wood and have been using "fatwood" from other sources for over 5 years in my insert. I am glad that CTC now carries it. It is a far better product than any of the petroleum based concoctions in terms of startability, longevity of flame and reliability. Its a green product and I'm not an environmentalist, so its win-win.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    • A: It's sold with firestarter tools, so I would say yes. It's no longer sold at Canadian Tire.

Q: How long would these last if I want to make a camp-fire only using these?

    1 Answer
    • A: Regarding the burning time of just using Fatwood for a fire, it would be our recommendation to not do so for a number of reasons: - fatwood is a natural product that comes from the stumps of old trees. It is extremely pitchy and will flare up and produce an excessive amount of smoke. - fatwood is meant to be used as an all natural firestarter with each stick lasting for approximately 10 minutes of burning time.

Q: Their website says that fatwood only comes in 10 lb and 15 lb boxes. Are you sure it weighs 45 lbs?

    1 Answer
    • A: The fatwood firestarter that Canadian Tire buys is the 10 lb box. These are not logs. They are just strips of fatwood inside the 10 lb box used as firestarter.
