Only thing is, they have non-toxic sealants now, so it's not totally necessary. But this does what you need it to.

waterproofing

i bought this product a few days ago and have used it on both my tents. a 4 man and a 3 man tent, after it dried i tested it by setting up the sprinkler next to the tents. i came back 2 hours later and there was no water inside the tents. the water beaded off like a windshield soaked in rainx. Great product. easy to use. no worried on my next camping trip.

Q: Could I use it on waterproofing gears? like jacket, umbrella, backpack etc. Also, would it work on leather surface? or it will stain?

A: The Escort liquid silicone is designed for outdoor products such as tents and canvas awnings. It is heavier duty than other products. For clothing and light gear we would recommend purchasing an aerosol based product (such as M&B Camp – sold at Canadian Tire) designed for outdoor clothing and footwear. A: Yes it should be fine if it is made of synthetic (Nylon, Polyester, Rayon ...) or lightweight fabrics. The Silicone Waterproofing Liquid is ideal for nylon tents, awnings, sleeping bags, and other items made of lightweight or synthetic fabrics.

Q: How do you apply it to the tent? Can you use a spray bottle and spray it on to the tent fly and bottom - (inside or outside)?

A: Escort Silicone Waterproofing liquid (76-5308) is applied by brush to the outside of a tent or awning including the seams. Then the product needs at least 12 hours to dry. A second application is sometimes necessary. If you have a pressurized paint gun or handheld spray bottle, you can spray the product on. Just ensure you completely cover area. The product is also available in an aerosol can (76-5307) if you are looking for another spray option rather than brush

A: You should apply a new coating of silicone waterproofing once a year if you occasionally go camping. If you use your tent nearly every weekend, apply it twice a year. Whenever you notice your tent's roof and rainfly sagging during a rainstorm or after a heavy dew, re-apply the silicone waterproofing.
