Just got this on sale and install was smooth and it burns even smoother. I’ve had it for 5 nights and it goes all night with 2 nice pieces of wood put in Before bed and I wake up to decent coles to throw in another piece to keep it going. It hasn’t gone out since I installed and lit a fire . I love it. Heating 700sqft

Yes, I recommend this product.

My first woodstove - Love it!

This is a great stove for zone heating. After a warm up period it makes plenty of heat for our 800 sq ft basement. With 2 medium logs it'll run burn at 250-300F for 2-2.5 hr, and then will settle down at 200-250 F for a couple more hours while it burns coals down to ash. It could handle a couple of extra logs for lots more heat and just close the damper for longer burn time (this also may make the stove hotter). It burns really efficiently, always reducing any wood to just ash and rarely leaving any unburnt leftovers. The glass door has stayed entirely clear allowing us to watch the fire throughout the burn. Ours is installed in the worst place possible in the house - in a basement, with 30 ft of chimney, so there is a moderate downward draft in the winter. After a first-timer smoky experience we followed the EXTREMELY well written user manual (plus some youtube videos) to light the woodstove every time since then without challenge. One of the main secrets is to get the flue hot by first lighting a few sheets of newspaper (before any kindling). They burn hot and with minimal smoke. Before the chimney air start to cool, get the kindling going. After a minute or two of this, AND with a basement window opened a 1/2 inch, the fire is easy to light and smoke goes right up the chimney. After 15-20 min of hot burn (with stove door ajar for extra air) it's OK to close the basement window.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: It appears per the specs of 4.0g/h particulate and Drolet's site that this model is not an EPA 2020 approved stove, but Canadian Tire lists it as an EPA stove. Is it now EPA approved or not? Thanks.

2 Answers
  • A: Yes it is, there’s a note on the first page of the manual show’s approved by EPA as equal to or less then 4.0 g/h particulate.

Q: One of the answers says that 84" "top clearance" is required for this stove. Does this mean from floor to ceiling, or above the top of the stove? Please clarify, as the latter would mean you'd need almost a 10' ceiling!

  • A: That is floor to ceiling.

Q: I tried to light the stove as it is said in the manual, but the fire would extinct as soon as I close the door. I tried the air control in all king of combination assuming that wide open is at the right and small opening at the left.

  • A: My suggestion for you is to burn a few sheets of newspaper in the wood stove first to get a draft going up the flu. Once smoke rises quickly and steadily up the flu you can be pretty sure when you light the fire it will continue to send smoke up the chimney. Also open the nearest window or door to the outside several inches until the fire has an even stronger draft going up the chimney. Hopefully you have enough normal air leaks in your house to keep the fire fed with air. Also, is your chimney sufficient diameter.
