Works well, the tips on the larger sizes reduce the need for pilot holes. Drills well through stainless. Keeps an edge longer.

Not a great drill set, attempted to drill out an exhaust flange bolt out of the flange, typical use case no? Didn’t make it through more than 3mm before becoming dull enough to no longer cut. Resharpened on the grinder like others I’ve used in the past, drilled through maybe 1mm got dull, repeated sharpening even less progress. I eventually gave up after the 4th resharpening and went with my R1ob3 kit from 1999 and drilled through the remaining 6mm and bashed out the last 2mm with my 2kg hammer and a drift in frustration. Skip this kit, the step point isn’t helpful as it walks the bits around even with a point set in the metal. Works OK on the pillar drill but that’s about it!

Q: Are these made and packaged specifically for Canadian Tire since Dewalt's normal cobalt bits contain 8% cobalt.

A: The DEWALT “Cobalt” drilling line that Canadian Tire carries is our high performance metal drill bit line. (It is what 95% of our customers’ carry.) This “Cobalt” line of drill bits has a 5% cobalt content. It is meant for drilling in stainless steel and other metals. The DEWALT “Industrial Cobalt” line has 8% Cobalt. It is used by the industrial market. It is a specialty product that has only very specific distribution.
