Smooth Cuts

The DEWALT 20V MAX XR Brushless Cordless Planer has been a workhorse in my shop. I’ve used it on countless woodworking projects — from shelves to every cabinet in my home — and it’s performed flawlessly on each one. The cuts are smooth, precise, and consistent, and the brushless motor gives it plenty of power to handle hardwoods without bogging down. I really appreciate how easy it is to change blades — it’s quick, simple, and keeps downtime to a minimum. The depth adjustment knob is accurate and locks in exactly where you want it, so every pass feels controlled and predictable. Being cordless makes it even better; I can move freely around large pieces or outdoor projects without worrying about dragging cords. My only wish is that it came standard with a dust bag, because this thing moves material fast — but once hooked up to a vacuum, it’s nearly perfect. Bottom Line: This XR Planer delivers professional-grade results in a compact, cordless package. It’s powerful, precise, and built to last — exactly what you expect from DEWALT.

Very hard to adjust

It's been two years since I bought this planer, but it's already broken. It's not the motor—it runs beautifully! The tool has great power, but it's hard to adjust… The factory setting that was done at purchase loosened over time due to vibration, and the blades shifted enough to damage the tool's structure. It cracked on the side, and the metal plate underneath got bent. There's no way to get it straight and functional again… It's really unfortunate, especially considering the tool is quite expensive, only two years old and barely used! The blade-changing system is nowhere near the quality of other DeWalt tools.

Great tool at a fantastic price.

As a homeowner, purchased this to sort out some issues around the house. It was also on a fantastic sale so that was a bonus. Note that I have not pushed the tool to the max, nor am I a contractor. However, for what I've asked it to do, it's met every expectation.
