DEWALT 1/4-in Socket Set, 49-pc

I'm very impressed with this socket set. Tools and sockets are very well made and work as you would expect. The case also is well designed in both layout and function. Sockets all stay in place when transporting and don't rearrange themselves as you find with some cases. I would definitely recommend this set to anyone.

Might be a bit of an odd title to call a tool "beautiful" but the Dewalt socket sets certainly live up to that description. Start with the packaging, the case is well made and hold the sockets, extensions and wrench securely. Unlike some other manufactures who use plastic clasps that are always popping off Dewalt uses the same metal ones on their power tool cases which you can tell when snapped locked and don't fall off. I've been using Dewalt power tools for over 15 years and have always been impressed with their construction and value for dollar. With their fairly recent entry into hand tools I was interested. I bought one of their plier sets and honestly wasn't happy. The quality wasn't the best and some of the features were a little gimmicky. So when in the market for a new socket set I was a little reluctant to try Dewalt. Well, any of the concerns I had are more than resolved having used the 1/4 and 3/8 sets for a few months. The wrench has a very smooth fluid movement and with the bottle opener shaped handle gives very good control. The sockets are well balanced and don't slip. The chrome finish is nice (frankly not a fan of the black that some manufactures are using) and the laser etching is great (bold enough to easily make out the size but doesn't mar the surface). What is really appreciated is that like some very high end tools the sizes are all oriented the same way so when using a socket rail you can get them to all face front (see the picture I've included). Only comment to Canadian Tire is they need to bring in some 12 point models. That said still a solid 5 out of 5.

The best so far between my Mastercraft sets and Stanley that I ever had. Very happy with the quality and design.
