This is my second unit as I loved the first one but after 4 years it quit. It does what it’s supposed to do and is very quiet. Follow the instructions and you should have years of use.

The white powder all over every surface is why I only gave this unit one *. My old humidifier that has a filter is MUCH better. I'll return this item and get a new filter.

Q: I purchased this humidifier two days ago, I refilled it on day two but there was no mist all day, I left it on and when I got up in the morning it seemed to be running fine. My question is does this unit only mist when it is necessary.

A: Well finally sent it back to CT and got another one... doin the same thing... but this one didnt restart after like more then 8 hours... Im asking to get refunded and will never buys Crane product again... I contacted Crane Canada and they said that the unit is defect and I should return it... I asked more question then they just reply to me get another Crane product... Seriously... I would have think to get better service then that... So yes ask a refund if its still possible for you and buy something else... Good Luck!!

Q: Can the direction of the mist be adjusted or does it point straight up? Also can a timer be set to run for just a few hours at night?

A: The direction of the mist is upwards, maybe around 70° up. You can rotate the plastic cover to change where the opening is, so the mist can be directed away from a wall, for example.

Q: Does this humidifier create that sticky white dust that so many others do?

A: This unit could create the white residue mentioned as most if not all Ultrasonic Humidifiers do this. The white dust is usually mineral residue and if you have harder water you are apt to have more white residue. I find best way to minimize this is 1) use filtered water and 2) if put on the edge of a table about 3+ feet off the ground with no furniture within 2’ so the mist has adequate time to disperse in the air before coming in contact with any surfaces like furniture etc. Often consumers will put in the middle of a coffee table and the mist falls only 12-16” and leaves some residue on the table top, there is a need to let it disperse in the air for a period of time.
