Scrapes wall when opened

It's made of a tough-enough material... steel, as per the item description. I'm uncertain why the first reviewer indicated that it's made of plastic. My issue is with the way it opens... I attached it to the front of our brick building, and then noticed that when the lid is opened it scrapes itself against the building because the hinges aren't well positioned. I eventually mounted a piece of wood between the back of the box and the wall, but what a pain. It should have been engineered to accommodate being opened, right? In any case I had already painted it a different metal tone, so I'm stuck with it for now.

No, I do not recommend this product.

The mailbox was easy to install & easier to keep clean. The overall appearance is very stunning on a grey brick house. So far we have have had no problem with the quality of material it's made from- a tough plastic.
