Coleman 300W power station.

I had this for 1 1/2 years and it worked great. I just used it for 12V stuff, didn't need the invertor. Then all of a sudden, it would only run for about 10-15 minutes before shutting off. The only way to get it back on again was to charge it. It would take the charge for a short time and indicated that it was fully charged. Tried to use it and again only 10-15 minutes until it shut down. I returned it to Canadian Tire for a store credit which I am happy for.

Compact Yet Powerful

This is a proper solar generator with a built-in current regulator. It does come with an adapter for household outlets, but it’s also compatible with any solar panel. And at 300 watts, you can power lights, charge cellphones, and I even boiled water with a 300 watt electric kettle! I pop it in my bicycle basket to keep my phone’s navigation/tracking app working for longer excursions.

Coleman 300 is not recommended

I bought this unit to power my CPAP which over 8.5 hours usage consumes about 60watthours. Assumed it would last 4-5 similar sleeps before needing to be charged. Tried 2 consecutive nights and found it only lasted 4-5 hours. Returned the product and purchased a Jackery Explorer 290. First night it consumed 30% or 87 watt hours which implies it should last 3 nights. Conclusion is the Jackery is far superior than the Coleman even though the specs are almost identical.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Will this be good enough to run an electric recliner?

  • A: This is dependent on the power requirement, usually found on the powerpack connected to the chair. I would imagine (but check) the requirement would be under 5A and so it would work.

Q: Exactly how do you charge this with a solar panel ? And does it come with the proper wiring to hook to a solar panel ?

1 Answer
  • A: The connecter marked 19V in is where you would plug the solar panel into, not all solar panels have this connecter you have to shop arond for one that has the DC output typically sold as a 24 volt panel
