For sailboat
I bought mine just after x mas last year to use on my 25 foot sailboat. When out on the water it is the only means of recharging the battery. I have on two VHF radios plus a GPS and chartplotter and even when i was on a 7 day trip it kept up to all my boats needs and not once did i have to switch to my second battery. At night it ran my interior lights, my anchor light on all night plus my lap top computer. Very pleased with the product.

Good deal at 53% off
This was a good deal at 53% off. The only thing I don't like is that the charge controller draws 7mA from the battery at night, which wastes power. During this time, only the amber LED is barely illuminated. The red LED indicating low Voltage only illuminates briefly as a flash, when connecting the battery, if the Solar input Voltage is low. I placed a diode of 0.2V between one of the charge controller outputs and the battery terminal to prevent the 7mA discharge at night. It is still charging fine, but might slightly lower the cutout of 14.2V.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought two of these on sale for half price and am very happy with the deal. I used them with marine batteries for emergency back-up. They were very easy to put together and get working.

Q: charging time?
Even though it states that it can charge a 12V battery for a camper, I can't find any information on how long it will actually take for the 25W solar panel to charge the battery.

Q: If charging from a 25 or 30w solar panel can the battery overcharge?
older replies from Canadian tire state the battery is regulated via the DC port and the posts, newer Canadian Tire replies state the opposite... which would it be? Are the DC and opsts regulated when charging using them?

Q: connect to laptop
how is it possible to connect the device to laptop?

A: If your laptop has a 12VDC input connection, you would need a #37-1470-8 Type S certified power outlet to connect to the supplied 7 Amp charge controller output. This would feed your laptop internal battery for about 12% usage time. (7 minutes per hour) in ideal conditions. With 2 of these solar panels you would get 25% continuous runtime.
If your laptop does not have a 12VDC input connection, then you will need a 12 volt battery (#10-2034-4) an inverter (#11-1847-4) and at least 4 (four) of these solar panels to run the laptop 50% runtime (in ideal conditions).
Your hook-up would not be very mobile.
Unless you are in a remote area (without power) I recommend you do not attempt this type of hook-up. Just run a suitable extension chord to where you want to run the laptop.

Q: Controller red light flashing
I have a 75W panel connected with #8 wire and a run of 15 ft. I am getting a flashing red light indicating a disconnection in the hook up. I have double checked the connections and that is not the problem. Do you have any suggestions?

A: Please refer to the "Battery Connection Distance Round Trip" in the controller manual. This segment should not be more 2ft. Please contact the technical support line indicated in the manual for further troubleshooting.
