Broke on Second Use

I bought this a couple weeks ago for a camping trip that was coming up. I decided to test it out around the house first to see if it would be adequate for use on the trip. Upon the second use, I was cutting off a branch on a tree in the back yard and it snapped in half. There was no signs previous to this as it was working just fine. I am unsure if there was an issue with the one I received or it is a problem in general.
