Horrible smell - off-gassing a year later!

I purchased two of these in 2024 for our daughter’s closets. The first closet started smelling so bad about 3 months in. It was driving me mad trying to figure out what it was. I took out every item from the closet and was about to prime the drywall again, but I did a quick search for these and found others that had bad smelling organizers. I removed them and the smell immediately went away. I had them sitting in my hallway waiting to go outside and everyone walking by couldn’t stand the smell. Horrible chemical smell that almost smelled like musty mouldy attic. Now my other daughters closet it also smelling so we will be taking hers out too.
I would not recommend this product - not sure what kind of dangerous stuff they’ve been leeching into our air!

It took a little figuring, but installation was pretty easy. It does say that for any closet smaller than 8 ft, the shelves would have to be cut. My closet was (laughably) 7.25 ft long and I worried about having to cut the shelves, but they didn't need cutting at all (the long shelves were smaller than 7ft). We just configured it so we wouldn't need the side brackets and there are so many extra plugs, I'm confident it'll be just fine for clothes. It feels very sturdy but I didn't like how cheap and thin the metal is and the white coating will easily scratch off and dent if you have to reposition any brackets or clips which is annoying.

The older models used to have a ‘map’ to specify where to place the sinkers and now they don’t anymore making much difficult to figure things out.
