Q: Will this pump move silt and sludge from a backyard ornamental pond ?
a year agoA: I don't believe it has a fine filter so should be fine. I use mine in a ditch where so much water accumulated in the past, it killed every tree. The ditch has sludge as well as floating cattails and has never plugged up. Absolutely love it. BTW , cattails are no longer and I actually mow the grass there now.

Q: i want to to use a fire hose to water my grass from the lake. use it every other day. would this unit be designed for this type of application?
a year agoA: I use this unit to empty my pool, and pump water from the river adjacent to my property, it's quite good, I have run the pump to about 60ft worth of hose on a 15ft rise and it's been completely fine.

Q: Is this water pump self priming
4 years agoA: There is a plug on the pump that is finger tight and you put water in it to prime it. Once primed it will stay that way if you stop the engine as there is a check valve on the pump.

Q: Can u hook up your garden hose to the discharge end of this pump
4 years agoA: No, these pumps are not equipped with a connection, and reducing the size of the output side will dramatically decrease the flow rate of the water. They are meant to displace water, transfer pump, not to water gardens and shrubs. If you make any type of connection for it to work, they will void the warranty. The restriction of water flow will damage the pump and may damage the engine as well.

Q: is this pump self-priming? And does that matter?
4 months agoA: No, you open and fill the chamber with water and close, make sure your inlet hose is well submerged in the water tank pumping from then start up the pump with the discharge outlet hose in place to where water is being transferred to. Great pump mine works very well.

3 years agoA: Difficult to say but this motor works just fine and in my case pumps up water uphill about 30 ft. Good machine. Too bad we haveto purchase made in china.
