Product Details

The Certified Snowblower Replacement Shear Bolt 1/4 x 1.75-in (0.6 x 4.4cm) is designed to fit Canadiana and Noma Snowblowers. This 2-pack shear bolt set replaces Canadiana #70971 and #73754. Note that snowblower augers are secured with shear bolts and lock nuts. Through use, these will break or shear. Insert new shear bolts through the hole in the auger shaft and secure with lock nuts. Make sure to disconnect the spark plug wire and place it where it cannot contact the plug before servicing your snowblower.

The Certified Shear Bolt is a replacement shear bolt for Canadiana and Noma Snowblowers
Fits most Yardworks, Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet, MTD and Yard Machines Snowblowers

Weak bolts

It's not too often that you buy something with the hopes that it will break, but this is what you are banking on when you purchase these shear bolts. I can confirm that they will break as advertised; especially when your kid leaves a 2-foot chuck of 4x4 treated lumber in the middle of the sidewalk like some kind of rampart specifically designed to halt a snowblower after the first big snowfall. Thanks, kid, I enjoyed the noise, the damage and the abrupt jam that follows when your Briggs and Stratten eats a fence post. I would, and did have to buy more of these.

Q: My 27" Craftsman snowblower (C950-52110-2) calls for shear bolt 1/4-20 x 1-3/4, 1/4-20 lockout and spacer which matches the description here. However the model number does not appear on your list. Can I use it and is it safe?

A: Hello, I have a 1986 Noma Canadiana Snow Blower. The same blower was also sold by Sears in Canada with their brand on it. All blowers were then made by Murray which was later acquired by Briggs & Stratton several years ago. This shear pin/bolt (shear bolt 1/4-20 x 1-3/4, 1/4-20 lockout and spacer) works in my blower without issue. Good to have several on hand as you never know when one will break. They break which saves the gear box from damage! Usually happens digging into ice filled snowbank or hitting something too hard, like concrete curb. Hope this helps!

A: I hope not, because it's designed to shear off to protect your PTO/gearbox on your snow blower. Most shear bolts are Grade 2.
