Lid Cannot be Removed from Bucket by Hand

I bought the lid together with the bucket. When I placed the lid, I was not able to remove the lid from the bucket using bare hands. I have to use pliers - I twisted the edge of the lid at same time damaging it to loosen it from the bucket. There is issues on user-friendly and safety (removing lid by hand may cause injury) A better lid design could be a threaded lid that could fit the bucket. Thank you.
