Q: Will these buckets accept a standard 12" Gamma Seal Lid?
6 years agoA: YES! I just bought gamma lids from Amazon.ca and bought these buckets and they fit. Mind you, it is a struggle to get the ring on, but once it's on, it's great. I was very pleased.

Q: Is there a datasheet confirming the buckets and associated lids are indeed food safe? The ad says they are food safe but the buckets are only marked as HDPE #2 and not explicitly as food safe like other products manufactured by Hoffman.
2 years agoA: I would absolutely not use these for food. When filled with warm water, they leech black particles into the water, meaning the plastic is not stable and can certainly enter the food.

Q: anyone gardening with this bucket ? Im wondering if they ve cracked ?
3 years agoA: I've had raspberries growing in one of these for the last 3 years, and no cracks yet. There is some fading of the logo caused by sun exposure, but no other deterioration that I can see. Even the spots around where I made drainage holes aren't showing any wear/damage. Pro tip: if you want to keep soil from coming out of the drainage holes, put coffee filters over the holes before filling with soil. The water passes through easily, but the soil stays put.

4 years agoA: I don't see why not. But I'm not sure I'd want a flammable like diesel in this container. If it is dropped the lid could pop off.

Q: what hot temperature will these pails accommodate?
4 years agoA: I’ve drained maple syrup strait from the evaporator into it without any deformation or odour transfer. Somewhere around 217f/112c
