Q: how do i stop charcoal from ending up in the water? My only problem with this product is that is sometimes lets bits of charcoal into the filtered water. I think it happens most when the filter is brand new, or when it's time to replace it. can this be fixed?

A: I have only noticed charcoal in the top part in the jug before it is filtered, so it never reaches the "good" water. I don't think you can prevent it as the package says it is normal.

Q: Price and longevity? How long do filters last? How much do they cost?

A: The amount of time they last depends on how much they are used so it is hard to say. For 1 or 2 people they last for months. In spite of their systems, I can tell when the taste of the water changes, then it's time to change the filter. Cost? I wait until they are on sale!
